Dr. Cyn Rosario, Interim Acting School Principal
Introduction Letter to Families
Dear Linden Tree Families,
Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! It is my pleasure to introduce myself as the new interim acting principal. As I transition into the role during Linden Tree’s 10th year anniversary, I look forward to maintaining Linden Tree’s vision and culture while diving deeper into our instructional practices. You may notice a few changes in our curriculum and around the building, but you can always rest assured that Linden Tree will continue being a safe and nurturing school for your children.
As I embark on this new journey, I will draw upon my 26 years of experience as a school counselor, classroom teacher, founding principal, and education consultant. I believe that schools are the heart of a community. As a Bronx native who attended District 11 public schools, I take pride in providing a high-quality magnet program to the children of our beloved borough. I believe deeply in the school’s mission to celebrate diversity, respect and empathize with one another, provide students with the habits of mind and heart to negotiate for themselves in the real world, and offer an excellent education program that ensures every child has access to engaging and challenging learning experiences.
Our shared experience with the global pandemic has reminded me of the importance of individualized learning. We will work closely with you to welcome students safely back into the building. The custodial team is preparing the building to meet health and safety protocols, while our instructional team has been working through the summer to design a first-rate curriculum that begins with multiple assessment measures to identify students’ strengths and opportunities for growth. Teachers will analyze student data to meet children where they are and help them excel to meet and exceed grade-level standards. Together, we will ensure that children receive the individualized attention they require to thrive emotionally and academically.
Ultimately, you, as parents, guardians, and family, have the deepest impact on your children. Our close partnership tells your children that the adults in their lives communicate often for their best interest. Teaching each child to read, write, and mathematize is just as important as teaching them empathy, responsibility, gratitude, collaboration, curiosity, courage, and respect. We want children to think critically about the choices they make and how it will impact their lives and those around them. We can do this as partners in your child’s life.
Linden Tree has a wealth of resources available to families. These resources can be accessed through our parent coordinator—Maria Centeno, community coordinator—Allison Walsh, professional school counselors—Sandee Pérez and Ashley Walker, school social worker—Domonique Robinson, assistant principal— Jaime Sorhaindo, and school culture coordinator—Rob Bergmann. Our Parent Association, led by Indiana Cabral, is also a valuable resource we hope you will take advantage of.
I look forward to embarking on this journey with you to elevate and empower every child and family member in our community. As partners, we will create an environment of high academic standards, community and cultural pride, positive work habits, and collective accountability so that our students are prepared to become global leaders of innovation and discovery.
Yours in collaboration,
Dr. Cynthia Rosario
